Fred The Celeb Dolphin Attracting Crowds In Southern California

By Robert Paul Reyes

Wildlife experts said they were letting Fred the dolphin enjoy -- or not -- his 15 minutes of fame as he loitered in a Southern California lagoon Saturday.

The 7-foot dolphin wandered into the Bolsa Chica wetlands Friday, drawing crowds of curious onlookers and even slowing traffic on the bustling Pacific Coast Highway.

The crowds quickly dubbed the dolphin Fred and watched as wildlife officials decided to wait and see if it would find its own way out to sea."

The Pacific Coast Highway is one of the most scenic freeways in the country, but there usually isn`t a dolphin showboating in the wetlands.

Let`s hope Fred doesn`t love the attention more than freedom, and be reluctant to find its way back to the sea. I can see a Paris Hilton or a Lindsay Lohan so happy that she`s swarmed by paparazzi that she forgets to eat dinner.

Fred seems to be in good health, and wildlife experts aren`t worried about him, but they will be relieved when he returns to the sea.

The crowds shouldn`t have named the Dolphin, now they are really going to miss him when he finally swims back to the sea.
