NEW STUDY: Aspirin Prevents Cancer

cancer preventativeIn a recent study published in the Lancet Medical Journal, proved those study subjects who took 75mgm of Aspirin for five years or more suffered up to 40 % less cancer especially that of the gastrointestinal tract. The overall risk of cancer death was reduced by 20% while cancer of the colon and rectum was reduced by 40%.

The cancer preventative effect tended to increase with age and was especially effective in persons over the age of 55. Study subjects had to take this dosage for over 5 years before the beneficial cancer protective effect was evident.

Aspirin prevents cancer through its anti-inflammatory effect.

The side effects of Aspirin can cause nausea , vomiting and bleeding from the stomach. The recommended dosage of 75mgm is low. In order to prevent side effects, Aspirin should be taken after a meal.

CAUTION: Those who take anticoagulant medication (blood thinners) Coumadin or Warfarin are warned NOT to take Aspirin.

In the United States the lowest dose of Aspirin available is 81 mgm (Baby Aspirin).
