Kitten Survives Going Through The Hot-Water Wash Cycle

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A Scottish family likely will check its laundry basket a bit more closely before tossing clothes into the washer to avoid washing their cat.

Emma Lothian of Mayfield said Tinker, a 10-week-old tortoiseshell, was nestled in the laundry and wound up going through the hot-water wash cycle before it was found, the reported.

`I`d been doing some housework and I noticed Tinker wasn`t running around as usual,` Lothian said.`Then I heard something coming from the washing machine. I had a look and I saw her stuck inside on top of all the clothes.`"

This is a case where curiosity almost killed the cat; the vet put Tinker in a heated oxygen chamber to save its life.

Cats are always cleaning themselves, it isn`t necessary to run them through the hot-water wash cycle.

Cats are always getting into catastrophic predicaments, when my cat, Ebony, was a kitten she got stuck in the drapes. I need an eye in the back of my head to keep up with the antics of my cat.

Tinker is doing fine, and hopefully from now on Emma will take a close look at the laundry basket before she tosses the clothes into the washer.
