Black Women: Stop Hatin' On Gymnast Gabby Douglas' Natural Hair

By Robert Paul Reyes

Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas is the first African American to win a gold medal for the individual all-around competition in gymnastics, she accomplished this feat at the London 2012 Olympics.

The social media site "Twitter" provides instant analysis of all things great and small, and the Twitterverse was brimming with thoughts and observations, not about Gabby`s historic achievement, but about her hair.

Gabby`s hair was loaded down with gel and hairpins, and her ponytail looked kind of ratty, but give the girl a break, she`s only 16.

Most of these comments seem to have been written by black women with too much jealousy in their hearts and too much time on their hands.

It`s easier to find an albino with pink hair, than it is to find a black woman with natural hair. Too many African American women wear wigs that make them look like they are trying to look white.

I love black women who wear their hair in an "Afro"; they look natural, confident and gorgeous. Black ladies please: Burn those wigs!

Gabby`s natural hair, if styled properly, would look better than the black women wearing ridiculous wigs.

I know that the quickest way for a man to get slapped, is by poking fun at black women`s hair. Somebody had to go there, and I`m glad I did.
