President Obama Owes the American People an Explanation About What REALLY Happened in Libya
President offered evasive responses last night and Joe Biden gave blatantly false non-answers in last week`s VP debate
"President Obama owes the American people an explanation of why his administration failed to protect our ambassador in Libya, Christopher Stevens, and other U. S. personnel murdered in Benghazi on the anniversary of 9/11," according to Tommy Sears, spokesman for Defending Our Democracy.
"The president offered evasive responses in last night`s debate and his Vice President Joe Biden gave blatantly false non-answers in last week`s VP debate on the issue of the attack. But the American people will not let them duck the issue. It`s just too important to give them a bye," he continued.
"Last night the president said he beefed-up security in the wake of the Benghazi attacks. But just last week the State Department testified before Congress that their request for additional security had been denied. Are the president`s orders being ignored, or is this another deception along the lines of the video that was alleged to have been behind the attacks initially and later proven to have been a false narrative?"
"Meanwhile, new reports have emerged that the White House has ordered the Defense Department to plan attacks against terrorist strongholds in Libya in retaliation for the massacre at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. They tend to confirm earlier stories in the New York Times and Washington Post two weeks ago-strong indications that the Obama administration is prepared yet again to seek dangerous national security escapades to bolster a tough guy image in advance of the elections."
"As with the release of intelligence by the White House in the aftermath of the Osama Bin Laden raid and as recapped in our October Surprise Committee`s video [http://www.defendingourdemocracy.com/], the disclosure of these potential operation plans demonstrates yet another irresponsible manipulation of U. S. national security for political purposes---three weeks out from the November presidential election."
Defending Our Democracy predicted earlier this month that the president would have an "October Surprise" for voters and that it would take the form of a military adventure, Sears noted.
"The perpetrators of the September 11, 2012 attack on the Benghazi Consulate who killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans need to be found. But, the revelation of military plans, assets, sources and intelligence behind any retaliatory operation shows once again the recklessness of this administration and its unmatched political cynicism.
"Given its lack of candor and false disclosures on the Benghazi security situation and the assassination of Ambassador Stevens, just how much confidence should the American people have in this White House`s ability to find the Benghazi killers, or on any other national security issue, for that matter?"
"Before embarking on foreign policy adventurism that he himself has unceasingly and vehemently criticized his predecessor for, President Obama should explain fully to the American people his intentions, motivations and objectives in taking any such precipitous action given current political circumstances, at home and abroad."
