Madonna Booed At Concert For Urging Fans To Vote For Obama

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Who`s registered to vote? I don`t care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama."

Usually fans at a rock concert are so high or drunk that they will cheer anything that a performer shouts from the stage. A Madonna or a Lady Gaga can scream "The Pope has dirty underwear" and the crowd will erupt in applause.

But Madonna`s little speech urging her fans to vote for Obama, drew boos and epithets. Some fans even walked away in disgust, keep in mind that these folks paid hundreds of bucks for their tickets.

Music transcends politics and religion; it brings fans of every culture, ethnicity and political persuasion together in a spirit of celebration.

An artist, especially one like Madonna who has been in the game such a long time, shouldn`t bring a divisive spirit by injecting partisan politics.

Madonna should have simply made a generic plea urging her fans to vote. Obama and Romney are both beneath contempt, and fans don`t want to think about them when they`re partying and having a good time.
