Appreciation Means "To Express Gratitude".

By Keith Johnson

Word of the Day: Appreciation

The word appreciation means "to express gratitude". Now, how that gratitude is expressed can be on different levels and in different ways. For example, if I buy flowers for my wife for her birthday she can express her appreciation in several common ways.

First, she can send me a text message while I am still at work. Second, she can give me a big hug when I get home from work and say "thank you". Third, she can prepare an awesome dinner that she knows is dear to me and also feature the flowers on the center display of the dinner table. Appreciation is what makes us human beings.

When you give animals food or attention, they are momentarily glad but within seconds they forget. There are also some people who are ungrateful and unappreciative and this makes human communications very difficult.

The Dalai Lama says that appreciation is compassion in action and the best way to say thank you to someone who has truly done something good.

Have a nice week ahead everyone!
