Judyth Piazza interviews Film Producer Ronnie Banerjee on The American Perspective

By Judyth Piazza CEO (Editor)

Ronnie Banerjee was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, the son of Prasad and Rupa Banerjee, both former Table Tennis champions in their native India (his mother rose to the rank of national champion for both India and Canada in the sport).

Since the time he was a child, he was immersed in his love for movies, always looking forward to local theater excursions and often re-watching his favorite titles at home and memorizing all the lines along the way. He has also been traveling the world from childhood until now and prides himself greatly on having set foot in 56 countries thus far, while holding the keen aspiration to visit every single country on earth before he dies.

A graduate from the University of Toronto with a degree in English and Political Science, Ronnie has in recent past set his sights on his lifelong passion for cinema and entered the realm of film production, to date producing a few exciting independent feature film titles under his belt. These include three films for veteran Hollywood actor/director Damian Chapa, including the soon to be released Night Bird (2012) and the controversial biopic DSK Unauthorized (2012). He has also produced an award winning short film entitled In Transit (2012) which qualified for the 2013 Academy Awards and became eligible for an Oscar nomination consideration in the category of Best Live Action Short.

Presently, among the couple of projects he is involved with, he is producing the Rich Rossi film Saving Little Italy (2013) which stars a plethora of actors that have appeared in such definitive cult classics as Casino, Donnie Brasco, Blood In Blood Out and Scarface.

Ever the optimist, he continuously looks to the future towards opportunities in the film industry where he may engage in exciting and creative productions with hardworking and charismatic individuals.
