Prominent Face of Indian Politics Behind Bars

A prominent face of Indian politics, and chief of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala were sent behind the bars for 10 years over the illegally appointment of  3,206  primary school teachers in the year 1999 and 2000 by special Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday. 

The court on January 16, while convicting all the 55 accused in the case of illegal recruitment of 3,206 junior basic trained teachers, had held the former chief minister, Chautala senior as the "main conspirator".

The Indian Courts Special CBI Judge Vinod Kumar, convicted the Chautalas and 53 others, including two Indian Administrative Officers, Sanjiv Kumar, the then director of primary education, Chautala`s former officer on special duty Vidya Dhar and his political adviser Sher Singh Badshami for corruption in a teacher`s recruitment scam also sentenced the 1o years jail term. The court framed charges against them under Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and provisions of the PCA (Prevention Of Corruption  Act).

The case the CBI has projected has been done in a way to implicate them but nowhere bribery has been proved," Bir Singh, an MLA from Chautala`s Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) party, was quoted as saying by Times Now.
