Great Horned Owl Survives 140 miles in Front Grille

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Veterinarians in Florida said a great horned owl that survived a 140-mile trip stuck in the front of a sport utility vehicle is expected to recover fully.

The owl was trapped between the front grille and radiator of the vehicle. A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer responded to the scene and freed the owl, which was taken to the South Florida Wildlife Center in Fort Lauderdale."

There have been numerous incidents of kittens surviving similar ordeals, and every single time there is an outpouring of love and concern for the poor kitty.

I doubt if even one person will call the South Florida Wildlife Center to inquire about the welfare of the owl. I can guarantee there won`t be any Facebook or Twitter pages set up to honor the owl.

Kittens and puppies are cute and cuddly, but there is nothing cute about an owl and they don`t elicit any love from humans.

We should love and have concern for all animals; I commend the wildlife employees who saved the owl, and are tending to its injuries.
