Video! 20-Foot Inflatable Colon Teaches About Cancer

By Robert Paul Reyes

"The colon is the last part of the digestive system in most vertebrates. It extracts water and salt from solid wastes before they are eliminated from the body."

"The Prevent Cancer Foundation started National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month by giving tours of a 20-foot long inflatable colon in New York.

The Prevent Cancer Super Colon was inflated Friday in Times Square and the foundation gave tours of the oversized organ, which includes oversized examples of Crohn`s disease, colorectal polyps and the different stages of colon cancer, ABC News reported Monday."

I don`t think this giant colon will serve as the inspiration for a new ride at Disneyland. Little kids may feint if they are attacked by colorectal polyps, and adults may vomit if they are confronted by a person dressed up as Crohn`s disease.

I just pray that the inflatable colon doesn`t have any objects inside it representing human feces.

The super duper colon may sound gross, but it serves a good purpose if it encourages folks to get tested for cancer.
