Nitish Kumar Stands Firm for Adhikar: Rights of Biharis

By Neha Gandhi

Amid the massive supporters, Bihar( north Indian State) chief minister and Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Nitish Kumar on Sunday stood firm for Adhikar (rights) of biharis and voiced the demand for special category status for his state Bihar at a rally organized by his party at the national capital`s Ramlila Grounds here.

"While addressing the rally, he alleged that his state has been `discriminated` against, and emphasised that Centre should allocate more funds, financial aids and address their interest too that are crucial for Bihar`s development. The government in Delhi (Centre) should be such, which looks after our interests," he said.

Kumar on Sunday also pointed that him and his party JDU support would be crucial for formation of the next government at the Centre. Either you give it (special status) now or after 2014, you will have to give it. You will have to accept the demand in circumstances that will be there after 2014. Only one, who feels about the backward, the backward states will occupy the seat of power in Delhi (Centre)," Kumar said. Whosoever will work for backward states will be seated in 2014 in the country," he said.

"While referring to the development`, he launched a frontal attack on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi`s development plank, and emphasised that his state would present the "real model" for progress which takes everyone along. We will leave everyone behind and move ahead with development. And we will present a model before the world," Kumar said.

Talking tough, Kumar stressed that this rally is just a beginning in Delhi and his fight will continue till the Centre gives special status to Bihar this time and the state will chart out on the development path.
