Rape of five year old girl in the Indian capital has once again sparked protest all over the country, forcing lawmakers of the country to rethink whether the rape laws are strong and sufficient enough to punish the guilty.
Doctors say the girl suffered severe injuries and bruising, including to her neck and genitalia but is now out of danger.
According to the media reports, the small girl who belongs from east Delhi was raped, brutalised and then kept captive allegedly by her 22-year-old neighbour. The girl went missing from her home after going out to play and was discovered by neighbours in a small locked room in the same building where the girl lived. The child`s family found her, bleeding and brutalized.
Meanwhile, the incident has once again put a question mark on safety of women. Angry crowds demonstrated outside the Swami Dayanand Hospital, where the girl was admitted earlier then was taken to AIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) hospital.
Reports also said Delhi Police officials bribed the victim`s parents with 2000 rupees to settle the case.
Preeti Choudhary, a 34-year-old women talking to SOP says, "We are angry ... Every four hours, news is coming that there is a rape." This kills our souls. We also have daughters 4 and 5 years old. Neither the police commissioner nor the Home Ministry are concerned. How long are they going to make fools of the people?" she said.
