Cover Of New Yorker Magazine Suggests Bert And Ernie Are Gay: Video

By Robert Paul Reyes

The current issue of "The New Yorker" magazine depicts "Sesame Street" characters Bert and Ernie cuddled on a sofa in front of a black and white television on which the Supreme Court justices are shown.

The cover celebrates the court`s ruling pro-gay rulings on DOMA and California`s Prop 8 ban on same-sex marriage.

It has long been rumored that Bert and Ernie ,who live together and are inseparable are homosexual, but in 2011 Sesame Street issued a statement saying the characters are best friends.

Puppets aren`t anatomically correct and they are asexual entities, but Bert and Ernie`s close relationship leaves little kids, who are oblivious to sexual politics, with the positive subliminal message that couples come in many variations.

"The New Yorker" magazine didn`t exactly out Bert and Ernie, but the cover is certainly a creative way to celebrate the Supreme Court`s ruling on DOMA.
