Vandals Douse Iowa State Fair's Beloved Butter Cow in Red Paint: Video

By Robert Paul Reyes

"The Iowa State Fair`s traditional butter cow sculpture is back to its full glory after being coated in red paint by animal rights activists, officials said.

The butter cow was hit early Sunday by Iowans for Animal Liberation, which sent an email to The Des Moines Register claiming responsibility for the vandalism. The group said members gained access by hiding in the Agriculture Building until it closed."

I`m an animal rights activist, but I am appalled by Animal Liberation`s dastardly act of vandalism. They bring shame to the great and honorable cause of animal rights.

There is nothing more all-American than the Iowa State Fair, and there isn`t a more loved and iconic attraction at the fair than the butter cow.

It`s OK to pose with the butter cow and have your friend snap a pic, it`s even OK to dream about chasing the butter cow and eating it in one sitting, but it`s definitely not OK to commit sacrilege by coating the yummy animal in red paint.
