Outrage: Blind Man Crashes Car, Almost Kills Pedestrian

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A blind Scottish man said he was trying to realize his lifelong dream of driving a car when he crashed it into a boulder and nearly hit a pedestrian.

Paul Keatings, 42, was driving his friend`s Subaru Impreza when the accident took place in New Lanark, The Scotsman reported Thursday.

Keatings said friend Brian Gillon, 33, suggested he get behind the wheel, and offered to help the blind man steer and brake in May."

Dirty Harry: A man`s got to know his limitations.

If you`re freaking blind you can dream of flying a kite, blowing bubbles into the wind, or even riding a roller coaster. But you have no business getting behind the wheel of a vehicle, not even a go cart.

The blind man was charged with driving dangerously through blindness, driving without insurance and driving with a provisional license, for good measure he should have been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.

The blind man`s foolish friend was charged with allowing a person unfit through blindness to drive a car and permitting a person with no insurance to drive the car.

Keatings` stupid stunt almost cost a pedestrian his life. I hope the blind dude and his friend will find less risky ways to spend an afternoon.
