Maple Syrup Smell Wafts Through New York City: Video

"In Manhattan, the smell of maple syrup has been mysteriously wafting through the city air.

This isn`t the first time the smell has filled the squares of New York`s city blocks. Years ago, New Jersey plant Frutarom was determined to be the culprit."


I live in rural Virginia, and it`s not unusual for the sweet smell of maple syrup to be wafting through the country air. But when you catch a whiff of maple syrup in New York City it`s breaking news.

In the big rotten apple it`s more common to smell the stench of decomposing bodies on the Hudson River, the fetid odor of litter baking on hot asphalt, or the funky odor of urine-drenched street people.

There`s something rotten in Denmark, when there`s a sweet scent emanating from New York City.
