Lady, 99, Gets Honorary High School Diploma
"A 99-year-old Iowa woman who dropped out of school as a senior in 1932 was presented with an honorary diploma by the principal of the high school she attended.
Audrey Crabtree, 99, dropped out of East High School in Waterloo as a senior in 1932 after missing part of the year due to an injury and serving as a caretaker for her ailing grandmother."
File this story under: Better late than never.
Crabtree`s granddaughter, Shelley Hoffman, approached Waterloo Community Schools officials about honoring her granny, and she was presented with an honorary diploma on Monday.
This dear old lady`s one regret in life was not getting a high school diploma; she can now die in peace.
Back in the day you could do OK without a high school diploma, but in today`s high-tech world you won`t get anywhere without a high school diploma and a college degree.
If you live to be 99 without a high school diploma, you will die in poverty.
