Principal Cancels Classes Due to Beautiful Weather: Video

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A Georgia principal said he is crossing off an item on his preretirement to-do list by canceling classes due to beautiful weather.

Len McWilliams, headmaster of the Calvary Christian School in Columbus, said he wanted to find a positive reason to cancel school before he retires at the end of the year, so he decided to call off classes Friday for pleasant weather."

Principals often close school because of snow, and sometimes because of disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes. But McWilliams may be the first principal ever to cancel classes simply because it`s a beautiful day.

This is a beautiful sentiment, and I`m sure it`s appreciated by the teachers, and especially the children of Calvary Christian School.

I hope this idea catches on in businesses, churches and schools all over this great country. Wouldn`t it be terrific if a long-winded preacher cancelled church services on Sunday to give his parishioners an opportunity to enjoy a beautiful day? Or if a boss gave his employees the day off so they could enjoy one of the last beautiful days of fall, before the bitter cold of winter arrives?

Mr. McWilliams you sir are a gentleman, a scholar and an all-round cool dude; I hope there will be many beautiful days in your retirement.
