Great Dane Follows Owner To Hospital To Make Sure He's OK
"Last Thursday, a drunk driver drove his car into the side of a northern Idaho home.
The homeowner, Jeffrey Groat, was found trapped under the vehicle. A visiting friend and her 10-year-old daughter were also seriously injured.
After the crash, the Coeur d`Alene Press reported that Groat`s dog, a black teacup Great Dane named Burke, was missing."
Even though Jeffrey Groat was seriously injured, his mind was on his missing companion. Groat was fearful he might never see his beloved pooch again.
A man spotted the Great Dane limping near Kooenai Health, where Groat was hospitalized, and he brought the pooch home with him. When he read Groat`s story in the newspaper he immediately got in contact with the hospital staff.
A lover may ditch you when she finds someone else who is better looking or makes more money; a friend may desert you when he no longer needs you, but the bond between a man and his pooch is eternal.
The dog, named Burke, followed the ambulance all the way to the hospital to be reunited with his owner.
The pooch was so happy to see his master that he jumped on top of him on his hospital bed. Groat was so delighted upon seeing his pup again, that he didn`t even mind the intense pain he felt when the canine jumped on his broken ribs.
I lost faith in humanity a long time ago, but I will never lose faith in the kindness, loyalty and courage of man`s best friend.
