Arthur Chu: The Most Hated Contestant in History of Jeopardy: Video!

By Robert Paul Reyes

"If you`ve been watching Jeopardy lately you`ve seen Arthur Chu tear up the game and stir up chatter.

Chu, 30, an insurance compliance analyst and aspiring actor, has won $102,800 in four Jeopardy! appearances.

His playing strategy "- jumping around the board instead of running categories straight down, betting odd amounts on Daily Doubles and doing a final wager to tie " has fans calling him a villain and smug. Other fans are hailing him as a hero and swag lord."

USA Today

It is a bit unsettling to witness Chu make a mockery of long-established Jeopardy etiquette by jumping back and forth between categories, and by betting only $5 on Double Jeopardy.

I`m not saying that Jeopardy fans are snobs, but twe don`t appreciate an individual who doesn`t play by the rules, and creates confusion and chaos.

I am not one to beat around the bush, let me address the gorilla in the room that nobody wants to talk about. With his goofy glasses, geeky bangs, and round face Chu is the quintessential Asian nerd, and that`s the real reason we can`t stand him.

We like to believe that we are a post-racial society but it irks us that some Asian nerd is showing up saintly Jeopardy host Alex Trebex and showing no respect for his fellow contestants. Chu brings back unpleasant memories of that Asian student with a slide rule in his pocket, a pimple in the middle of his forehead, and a smug smile on his mug, who knew all the answers.

For the sake of racial harmony let`s hope and pray Chu falls flat on his round face, and that he will disappear from the pop culture landscape.
