Man Fired for Using Forklift to Retrieve Twix Bar Stuck in Vending Machine

By Robert Paul Reyes

"It seems that an Iowa man might have needed a moment to reflect before allegedly utilizing an 8,000-pound forklift to pick up and drop a vending machine several times in pursuit of a Twix bar that had gotten stuck."

Robert McKevitt was working at Polaris Industries when he put a buck into a vending machine and selected a Twix. When the delicious candy bar got stuck, he tried again.

I realize that a Twix bar is a delicious chocolate-caramel candy with a cookie crunch, but I would have mumbled a curse under my breath and walked away.

But McKevitt was enraged over losing two dollars, and he used his forklift to drop the vending machine at least six times onto the concrete floor. He managed to dislodge three candy bars out of the machine, no word what brand they were.

A supervisor witnessed McKevitt`s stunning display of stupidity and he was promptly fired, and his claim for unemployment benefits was denied. To add insult to injury he also lost his house and his girlfriend as well. All over a one dollar candy bar.
