Saudi Arabia Issues List of 50 Banned Names

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Saudi Arabia`s interior ministry said it had ordered a ban on the names because they contradicted the religion or the culture of the Kingdom.

Along with western names such as Sandy, Linda and Elaine, the interior ministry has forbidden Saudi parents from giving their children names with royal connotations, such as Malika (Queen) and Amir (Prince)."

The Telegraph

Oh the joys of living in a theocracy, first a Saudi cleric issues a fatwa against eating all-you-can-eat buffets, and then the interior minister bans 50 children`s names.

Some names aren`t kosher because they are too Western-sounding. After all how would it look if a Linda Mohammad made the news for strapping on a suicide vest and killing dozens of infidels?

Binyamin, the Arabic version of Benjamin is banned; it must be taboo because it`s the first name of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

These religious fascists have taken out the joy of naming a baby!
