Dude Cares for Baby Porcupine after Mom Becomes Roadkill: Video

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A Maine man who was looking for a mineral found something even more valuable when he cut open the stomach of a dead porcupine on the side of the road in Minot.

Jared Buzzell sliced open the piece of roadkill in search of a mineral deposit used in Chinese medicine, called a bezoar stone, that forms in the bellies of porcupines, and found a baby animal instead.

After performing the unexpected C-section, Buzzell cut the umbilical cord and started massaging the baby porcupine until it showed signs of life."

I wouldn`t slice open a dead porcupine, even if I knew for a fact that it had swallowed a diamond. This joker wasn`t looking for diamonds, he was searching for minerals.

Buzzell may not have shown much respect for the dead porcupine, but he`s going the extra mile in taking care of the baby porcupine. He took the tiny creature home and is nursing it back to health, but he plans on taking it to an animal shelter.

Who would have thunk Buzzell would have found the miracle of life inside roadkill? Kudos to Buzzell for respecting animal life.
