A Twisted Mother's Day Tale

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A Pulaski County man kept his dead mother in a freezer for three years while spending her Social Security checks, then he killed himself as police tried to unravel the mystery of what happened to the woman, according to the sheriff`s office.

Police suspect that Jon Whiteford dumped the body of his mother, Faye B. Whiteford, who would have been 96 this year, at an empty house after he was forced to move out of the home they had shared."

This isn`t a heartwarming tale about a son`s love for his mother, but a twisted tale about a man`s love for money. Even in Kentucky folks don`t keep the remains of family members in a freezer.

Whiteford didn`t stash his dear mother in a freezer because he couldn`t bear to be apart from her, he was cashing her Social Security checks.

The Social Security Administration was paying monthly benefits to Faye Whiteford, but she had not filed a medical claim for three years, given that the woman was in her 90`s they grew suspicious, and contacted the authorities.

When the cops began to investigate exactly happened to Faye Whiteford, Jon Whiteford dumped her corpse at an empty house and then killed himself.

This is a sad and twisted tale indeed, but if your mother is still alive, and not in a freezer, I hope you show her some love on Mother`s Day.
