'Django Unchained' Actress Daniele Watts: Victim of Racism or Skank Who Should've Been Arrested for Public Indeceny?
"Django Unchained actress Daniele Watts said on CNN Monday that she refused to give a Los Angeles Police Officer her identification when he asked for it because, "I believe in America and what it stands for.` Police said they were responding to calls from witnesses who said Watts and her boyfriend were involved in a sexual act in a public place in their car. Legal experts say the officer did have the right to request identification if he suspected illegal behavior.
`Django Unchained` actress Daniele Watts says Los Angeles police allegedly detained her because they thought she was a prostitute.
Watts, who is African-American, and her white boyfriend accuse police of racism for questioning them after they were seen showing affection in public."
Danielle Watts is on a crusade to wring as much publicity as possible from her encounter with a Los Angeles police officer.
In a cell phone video filmed by her boyfriend she can be seen crying as she refuses to show the police officer her identification. Watts wasn`t nominated for an Oscar for "Django Unchained", but her histrionic performance arguing with the cop is certainly worthy of recognition.
Let me back up and explain why Watts was confronted by a police officer. Several witnesses called the police to complain that a white male and a black female were having sex in a car with its passenger door wide open.
Watts who is black, and her white boyfriend matched the description of the amorous couple, and their vehicle was also the same make and model as the one described by the witnesses.
On on-air interviews Watts has demurely refused to describe exactly what she was doing with her boyfriend in the car. Watts claims she was kissing and showing affection to her boyfriend, and the cops should have left them alone. Watts may well have been kissing her boyfriend, but from the accounts of several witnesses she was kissing while she was straddling him, and they were having intercourse.
The police officer was justified in confronting Watts and her boyfriend, and asking for her identification. If Watts had complied with the cop`s request, her interaction with him would have lasted about a minute. It was Watts` arrogance and diva attitude that prolonged the incident and it`s her celebrity that`s made it newsworthy.
Watts is fortunate she wasn`t arrested for public indecency; she should stop playing the race card and just shut the hell up.
