Outrage: Husain Abdullah Prays to Allah After Scoring Touchdown: Video
"The NFL says a Kansas Chiefs player should not have been penalized after sliding to his knees in a Muslim prayer following an interception return for a touchdown.
In the second half of the Kansas City Chiefs 41-14 blowout win over the New England Patriots, Chiefs safety Husain Abdullah picked off a Tom Brady pass and returned it 39 yards for a touchdown. The devout Muslim then slid to his knees in the end zone and prayed. Abdullah was penalized 15 yards afterward for unsportsmanlike conduct."
Abdullah told reporters he believes he was assessed a penalty because of the celebratory slide to his knees and not his prayer.
A public prayer during an NFL game is more obnoxious than any other type of on-field celebration.
A public prayer after scoring a touchdown is the worst kind of taunting, it`s telling your opponent: Ha, God is on our side!
Allah, Jehovah, Jesus or whatever you choose to call your favorite deity doesn`t give a rip about the outcome of a football game. To pray after scoring a touchdown trivializes your faith and exposes it to ridicule.
I know that the NFL has a lot on its plate right now, but they should ban praying or prostrating yourself before God. If a football player thinks the Almighty helped him score a touchdown he should say a silent prayer, and not make a jackass out of himself by sliding to his knees in an overt display of religiosity.
