Outrage: Yoga Shouldn't be Taught in Public Schools

"Officials at an Austrian elementary school said yoga lessons were stricken from the curriculum due to a complaint from a parent who cited  `religious reasons.`


Yoga exercises originated with spiritual practices related to Hinduism and Buddhism. There are several different forms of yoga being practiced in the modern day, some with more religious connections than others."


I`m a strong believer in the separation of church and state, and I oppose teaching yoga in American public schools.

It`s impossible to separate yoga from its spiritual moorings, why not just teach students calisthenics or gymnastics?

Let`s turn to an impartial source, Wikipedia: Yoga are the physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines that aim to transform body and mind.

If yoga is taught in public schools there`s little danger that students will be inspired to become Buddhist monks, but they will be subtly indoctrinated in Buddhism.

Liberals who are vehemently opposed to Christian prayer in public schools should be equally outraged that yoga is taught in public schools.
