Outrage: Canadian Town Cancels Trick-or-Treating Due to Polar Bears!

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A Canadian town has canceled trick-or-treating in favor of an indoor event due to the threat of polar bears wandering the streets.

Arviat officials posted to the hamlet`s official Facebook page saying the town would host an indoor event for kids at the Mark Kalluak community hall Oct. 31 as an alternative to trick-or-treating, which officials said would be too risky this year due to the polar bear presence around town."

This is an outrage; Halloween is practically a national holiday in the United States and Canada. This is yet another example of the "overabundance of caution" tomfoolery.

Bears are as ubiquitous as littered bottles of Molson beer; Americans may wet their drawers at the sight of a polar beer, but Canadian children consider them as approachable as Smokey the Bear.

The townspeople like the idea of providing a safe environment for kids to celebrate Halloween, but this holiday isn`t about " safe and sane" fun, it`s about taunting fate and the devil.

Shame on the citizens of Arviat, you have defiled the meaning and spirit of Halloween!
