Michael Brown's Killer Darren Wilson Resigns From Ferguson Police Department
"The white police officer who fatally shot unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in the US town of Ferguson has resigned, his lawyer says.
Darren Wilson, who had been on administrative leave since the killing, told a newspaper he did not want to put the lives of police colleagues at risk.
Resigning was, he said, the hardest thing he had ever had to do."
As everybody in Ferguson and the rest of the world knows by now, a Missouri grand jury decided that there was no probable cause to file a cause of indictment against police officer Darren Wilson.
But this non-indictment falls far short of an exoneration, and Wilson will be a marked man for the rest of his life.
Wilson had no choice but to resign from the Ferguson Police Department, had he remained in uniform it would have been a matter of days before he was shot dead.
Wilson`s destiny is to change his name, live incognito, and move every few months. Perhaps he can exchange survival tips with Casey Anthony and George Zimmerman. On second thought he`d better not reach out to Zimmerman, since his acquittal in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, he`s made one mistake after another.
I believe the grand jury made the right call, but my opinion and the facts are irrelevant, the vast majority of African Americans consider Wilson guilty of murder, and he will have to look over his shoulder for the rest of his life.
Maybe in an alternate universe Wilson is able to leave in peace after the non-indictment, but in this universe, and in racially-polarized America fate has sentenced Wilson to a life-term of misery and fear.
