Robert Paul Reyes: My New Year's Resolutions
A wise man should never publish his list of New Year`s resolutions, but as some of my critics often remind me I`m far from wise, so here goes ...
Maybe if I renamed my New Year`s resolutions "My Bucket List", I might make more than a half-hearted effort to keep them.
BE MORE POSTIVE
That`s not easy for a cynic who sees a glass not as half-full ore even half-empty, but as potentially poisoned.
LEARN TO FORGIVE
It`s relatively easy to forgive a person who begs you for forgiveness, but usually people who wrong you are oblivious or indifferent to the suffering they have inflicted on you. But we must learn to forgive the unrepentant sinner.
GIVE UP MY ADDICTIONS
We all have addictions, some debilitating and some harmless, but only a fool will share his addictions with the world. I promise to curb my addictions so I can spend more time doing good works.
SAY `THANKS` MORE OFTEN
It doesn`t take much to smile or to say thanks; a little expression of gratitude goes a long way. I will send an email of appreciation to anyone who compliments my essays.
USE MY ONLINE PLATFORM TO PROMOTE GOOD
I`m an expert at ridiculing foolish celebrities, corrupt politicians, and greedy televangelists, but I will make more of an effort to write articles extolling the virtues of talented entertainers, honest politicians and sincere televangelists (my bad all TV preachers are con artists.)
Well that`s it, it may be a short list, but if I keep even one of these resolutions I`ll be satisfied.
