SOP Word of the Day: DOAB

SOP Word of the Day: DOAB

By Keith Johnson

Todays` Word of the Day is "doab". This is a noun that means "a section of land between two rivers; a section of land between two rivers above their confluence".

Sample sentences with "doab":

As we rowed our boat upstream, we could soon see a small doab situated between the river`s two major banks.

When building a bridge that crosses a river, sometimes, if the doab is large enough, you can place three verticals to support the bridge, as opposed to the traditional two.

Happy New Year 2015 to everyone at the SOP - writers, editors, guests, and everyone else!
