Police Chief Caught on Tape Suggesting K-9 Officer Be Killed! Fire Chief Harold Kaufman!
"A police chief in the Chicago suburbs apologized for a recorded conversation in which he suggested killing his department`s police dog.
Midlothian Police Chief Harold Kaufman was recorded talking to a police dispatcher in nearby Oak Forest about what to do with the department`s dog, Biko, after his handler resigned. "
A K-9 officer is regarded by his handler and by police officers as a colleague, a comrade, and most of all a fellow police officer.
Police Chief Kaufman`s suggestion that canine officer Biko be put to death because his human partner unexpectedly resigned is simply unforgiveable.
It`s outrageous for Kaufman to contemplate killing a dog who gave years of service to the police department and the community at large.
I`m not suggesting that Kaufman be killed for his contemptible comments, but he should be summarily fired.
Biko is still with the department and is working with a new handler.
