"In the South, or in the Midwest, there in Iowa, you would not have people who would just throw the F-bomb or use gratuitous profanity in a professional setting. In New York, not only do the men do it, but the women. My gosh, this is worse than locker-room talk. As we would say in the South, that`s just trashy."
You shouldn`t expect profound thoughts from a man whose latest book is "God, Guns, Grits and Gravy ", but Mike Huckabee`s latest controversial comment is guaranteed to enrage women, especially New Yorkers.
I live in the South, and I can testify that sometimes women and men use gratuitous profanity in a professional setting.
This is not a gender issue as much as it is a generational issue, young people who grew up with cable TV and the Internet where curse words blossom like weeds, don`t think twice about uttering obscenities in any setting.
An older gentleman like me winces when he hears a man or a woman resort to profanity, but only a fool would argue that women`s tender ears should be protected from profanity.
To label women who curse "trashy " is sexist nonsense. Huckabee should wake up and smell the fu**** coffee!
