Singapore Restaurant Utilizing Flying Robot Waiters from Hell!

By Robert Paul Reyes

"In Singapore food is a national obsession. But finding enough people to bring the food to diners is increasingly becoming a problem.

One company thinks it has come up with a solution - flying robot waiters. They are sturdy, reliable, and promise never to call in sick at the last minute.

Infinium Robotics` drones, due to be introduced at a local restaurant-bar chain by the end of this year, can carry up to 2kg (4.4lbs) of food and drink - that`s about two pints of beer, a pizza, and two glasses of wine."

This story makes me feel uneasy; increasingly robots are becoming an everyday part of our lives. But I guess I can live with robot servers, as long as there aren`t any robot cooks in the kitchen cooking deviltry and adding poison to the recipes.

I can deficiently see the benefit of being served by a robot: You don`t have to tip, and you can be as rude as you want.

The drones whizz above the heads of diners on paths charted by a computer program, but what if the program is hacked by a competitor and the drones crash into the restaurant patrons?

On second thought just give me a rude waitress who scratches her ass, and forgets to bring me my water.

Robots give me the willies!
