Indiana Pizza Shop: We Won`t Serve Gay Weddings! Outrage!

By Robert Paul Reyes

"An Indiana pizza shop may be the first to publicly say it will not serve gay weddings.

The O`Connor family owns Memories Pizza in Walkerton, southwest of South Bend.

`If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no,` Crystal O`Connor tells WBND-TV, adding, `We are a Christian establishment.`

Family members say they agree with Gov. Mike Pence that the bill does not encourage discrimination against gays and lesbians.

`We`re not discriminating against anyone, that`s just our belief and anyone has the right to believe in anything,` O`Connor told WBND."

It wouldn`t be unheard of for a fundamentalist Christian couple to serve pizzas at their wedding, but a gay couple would never hire a pizzeria to cater their wedding. All jokes aside, I must condemn the intolerance and bigotry of Crystal O`Connor

Indiana`s Religious Freedom Restoration Act may not mention gays and lesbians, but it`s patently discriminatory against them as evidenced by the bigoted declaration of the owner of "Memories Pizza."

The pernicious law covers a multitude of sins; a business owner could refuse to serve an interracial couple on the basis that according to his interpretation of the Bible the Almighty frowns on such evil unions.

O`Connor`s establishment is anything but Christian, can you image the Jesus of the Gospels, who ministered to social outcasts, refusing to serve anyone?

America is a secular and pluralistic society and religious convictions must always be subservient to the Constitution. We are a nation of laws based on the Constitution, and not on the Bible, the Koran or any other religious scriptures.

If O`Connor wants to be a good Christian witness she should serve everyone in her community with a smile.
