"Akron police officers on Friday rescued four caged puppies strapped to the roof of a speeding van in the middle of a 300-mile trip from Ashland County to Pennsylvania.
Multiple drivers called 911 when they spotted the dogs through the tarp that covered three sides of the cage sitting on top of the van driving along Interstate 76. An officer spotted the van about 2 p.m. Friday and stopped the driver in the eastbound lanes near the Gilchrist Road exit.
A Mennonite family of six was inside the van, including four children less than six years old. No charges will be filed against the driver, who promptly signed the dogs over to police."
The driver told the cops that he didn`t know it was illegal to transport puppies strapped to the roof of his van. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, but leaving illegality aside, any normal human being realizes that it`s immoral, sadistic and cruel to strap puppies to the roof of a speeding vehicle.
The police officers decided to educate the fool instead of issuing a citation. Are you kidding me, they should have thrown the book at the sadist, and charged him with speeding and animal cruelty.
Four children less than six-years-old were in the van, children`s services should pay the driver a visit.
At least the cops managed to convince the driver to sign the puppies over to them, let`s hope and pray that they will be adopted by a loving family.
