Hero Moggy Cat Saves Owner From Fire

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A huge moggy jumped up and down on his sleeping owner`s chest to alert him to a kitchen fire.

Kenny, a five-year-old Maine Coon - the largest domesticated breed of cat - has been given an award by a pet charity PDSA for his actions.

He dashed upstairs to owner Chris Oakley, 31, after another cat accidentally turned the cooker on and started a fire .

But instead of making his escape through the back door as the kitchen began to fill with smoke, he ran upstairs and jumped on his sleeping owner Chris Oakley, who was the only person in the house, in Greenstead, Essex."

Chris Oakley didn`t immediately wake up after Kenny jumped up and down on his chest; it wasn`t until the cat wailed that he finally got up.

My 25-pound cat, Tico, sometimes jumps up on my chest to alert me that she`s hungry, and believes me I immediate wake up.

Thanks to Kenny`s heroic actions Chris was able to put the fire out before it spread throughout the family home.

Kenny was given the commendation award by pet charity PDSA for his brave deed; I hope the other cat that started the fire wasn`t disciplined. All`s well that ends well.
