Woman, 70, Finishes 100-mile Race With 6 Seconds to Spare: Video

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A 70-year-old woman made a last-minute finish in the 100-mile Western States Endurance Run by crossing the line six seconds before the cut-off time.

Gunhild Swanson of Spokeane, Wash., crossed the finish line of the race in Auburn, Calif., nearly 30 hours after beginning the race in Squaw Valley, Calif., making her the oldest person to finish in the nearly 40-year history of the race."

Most septuagenarian women while away their final days on Earth knitting sweaters for their grandchildren, polishing their dentures, and watching Wheel of Fortune.

But Gunhild Swanson, 70, isn`t about to stay in her bed all day and play dead, she entered and completed a 100-mile endurance race. It`s a miracle the Grim Reaper didn`t catch up with her before she crossed the finish line.

Swanson has inspired me to get my butt off the couch, and take out the trash!

You go girl!
