Donald Trump's Alabama Stadium Rally a Humiliating Disaster

By Robert Paul Reyes

Donald Trump had predicted a crowd of 40,000 for his speech at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, home field for the University of South Alabama Jaguars.

I believed Trump would deliver on his promise, after all everybody shows up when the circus comes to town, and there has never been a more successful carnival barker than the former reality show host.

There was a sea of empty seats at the aforementioned venue; the crowd was estimated at around 19,000. Mind you that`s a great turnout, Hillary hasn`t managed to draw more than five thousand to one of her campaign events. But a crowd of 15,000 in a stadium that seats 40,000 is bad optics  -- quite a disappointment for a showman like the Donald.

Trump could have spared himself the embarrassment and humiliation of failing miserably to fill a large stadium, if he had stuck to his original plan of holding the rally at a far smaller site. Trump was so devastated that he cancelled the press conference that he had scheduled after his speech.

Hopefully this is a sign that you can only go so far with bluster and bombast, and the spell that Trump has on the Republican electorate has finally been broken.
