Armed 92-Year-Old Homeowner Scares Off Burglar

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A burglar in San Jacinto apparently picked the wrong house to break into Sunday Morning. He was confronted by a 92-year-old homeowner armed with a gun.

According to San Jacinto police, the intruder tried to gain forced entry by smashing a door with an ax at a house in the 1400 block of Chase Street at about 11 a.m.

Joe Milspa said he heard the noise and approached the door with his handgun. That was when he suddenly saw an exterior glass window of the home shatter, followed by the suspect attempting to crawl into his home through the window.

Milspa, who is a World War II veteran and lives alone, immediately fired one round at the intruder.  The burglar was not hit. But he did take off running, leaving behind his ax and several other items, police said."

It`s incumbent on every homeowner to be equipped with a firearm to defend his life and property. A frail 92-year-old man is no match for a brutal young thug, but this old codger convinced a burglar that he wasn`t easy pickings by firing one round at him.

Milspa said that he could have shot the burglar "right in the head between the eyes", but he "didn`t want to get in trouble."

I urge all homeowners not to consider any legal ramifications, but to shoot to kill any intruders or burglars. A jury isn`t going to convict an elderly homeowner for dispatching a burglar to hell.

Milspa still goes to the shooting range, there`s no doubt that he could have shot the burglar right between the eyes.

If you are worried about the safety of your grandparents, by all means pray for them, and urge them to install an alarm system, but for God`s sake make sure they own a firearm.
