Dog With No Legs Leaves South Korea For A New Home In America: Video

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A dog that was left in a garbage bag behind a South Korea meat market has a new life and new limbs on the other side of the world in Arizona.

Chi Chi, a golden retriever mix, hit the ground walking but not quite running Saturday at her new home in Phoenix. The 2-year-old dog has spent the two months in a veterinary clinic in Seoul learning how to live with prosthetic paws. Now she will be living with Richard and Elizabeth Howell and their 12-year-old daughter Megan."

In South Korea, as in most Asian countries, dogs aren`t considered pets but simply meat -- dog meat is a delicacy in South Korea.

This golden retriever, Chi Chi, was found in a dumpster outside a dog meat market, her legs had been bound with wire and her tendons and bones were visible. Her rescuers took the poor creature to a veterinary clinic, where it was determined that all four legs needed to be amputated.

Kudos to the rescuers who in a society that treats dogs simply as meat, valued the life of a critically injured dog. After months of tender loving care and rehabilitation in the vet clinic, the pooch is now learning how to live with prosthetic paws in her new forever home in America.

Chi Chi is an inspiration to all of us, canines and humans, reading this story has motivated me to redouble my efforts to stamp out animal cruelty.
