Injured Tortoise Gets Around With Wheels Designed for Windows

By Robert Paul Reyes

"An injured tortoise in India is walking again thanks to a set of wheels designed for a sliding window being attached to its shell.

Veterinarians at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai, India, set about helping the small tortoise after its right leg was injured in an attack by a mongoose."

A tortoise is easy pickings for a predator since it can`t move very quickly, its only protection is his hard shell. This unfortunate tortoise wasn`t able to retract her leg inside her shell fast enough and it was gnawed horribly by a mongoose.

But thanks to her new set of wheels the tortoise is now able to reach her food faster than the other tortoises in her enclosure.

Speedy Gonzales may now be able to outrun predators, but thankfully there aren`t any predator insider her enclosure.
