Cat Rescued From Rubble Days After Italy Earthquake

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A lucky cat was pulled from the rubble of the Italian town of Amatrice almost a week after a powerful earthquake toppled homes and killed almost 300 people.

In the days following the Aug. 24 quake, the cat`s owner, Daniela Tursini begged fire officials to look for her cat Joy, saying the cat was all she had left, the Telegraph reported.
`I beg you, find my cat,` Tursini told officials, the Telegraph reported. `My house has gone, I`ve lost everything.`"

USA Today

On Monday rescue officials searching the rubble found Tursini`s cat, appropriately named Joy.

If my house was burglarized before I checked what valuables were stolen, I would make sure that my cats were OK. You can replace a plasma TV and jewelry, but you can`t replace an animal companion.

I can understand Tursini`s unbearable heartache after losing her house, possessions and her cat in the devastating earthquake, and I can understand her unspeakable joy when her pet was found a week later.

Joy was suffering from dehydration, but the adorable cat is expected to make a full recovery. With her cat by her side I`m sure Tursini will also recover and rebuild her life.
