Announcing the Launching of the Motherhood Institute for Research and Community Involvement and the Journal of the Motherhood Institute

By Ernest Dempsey

The Motherhood Institute for Research and Community Involvement (MIRCI) is the newly launched feminist scholarly and activist organization on mothering-motherhood, developed from the former Association for Research on Mothering at York University (1998-2010).

The institute houses the Journal of the Motherhood Institute (formerly the Journal of the Association for Research on Mothering), Mother Outlaws, The International Mothers Network (www.internationalmothersnetwork.org), The Young Mothers Empowerment Project, The Motherhood Studies Forum, and is partnered with Demeter Press: www.demeterpress.org.

Membership to the Institute will commence May 1, 2010. Details will be posted early April at www.motherhoodinstitute.org.

Motherhood Institute conferences and journal publications for 2010 may be found at www.motherhoodinstitute.org.

The Motherhood Institute is currently engaged in a fundraising campaign to support and facilitate its establishment May 1, 2010. We are asking members, supporters and subscribers to the former ARM and JARM at York and others engaged in and committed to maternal scholarship and activism to donate to the Motherhood Institute (PLEASE SEE MOTHERHOODINSTITUTE.ORG TO DONATE) and/or purchase Demeter Press titles from Demeterpress.org.
