Secrets and Lies exposed in the book The Beach House

Secrets and Lies exposed in the book The Beach House

By Garrett Godwin

Jack Mullen is a bright and smart man.  He is an idealistic young lawyer working at one of the most prominent law firms in New York, taking on the death row case of an inmate called the Mudman.  Dating his boss' beautiful daughter Dana, it seems like the future is promising for Jack, who is the opposite of his brother Peter.  Peter Mullen parks cars for the rich and powerful people in their hometown ... and then some.  One night on the beach, he was beaten and attacked by several men, and was found dead.

The police think it was suicide, but Jack believes that Peter was murdered and wants to know who did it and why.  He’s got questions that people have the answers to, but they don't want to tell.  Frustrated and fueled by grief, anger, and brotherly love, Jack is determined to get justice for his brother.  But the more Jack goes deeper, the more he discovers who Peter really was, ending up with even more than what he bargained for.

Soon, he began to realize that the world isn't all black and white, that the law isn't about right and wrong.  It is about the haves and the have-nots, where the wealthy and elite are in control.  Anybody can be bought, and there are those who will stop nothing to keep the truth buried.  However, with the aid of his grandfather Mack, his friends, and his private detective friend Pauline, Jack Mullen will stop nothing to make sure someone will pay for his brother's murder, leading to a climax that will surprise you.

The Beach House has the workings of a television miniseries.  Despite being told from first-person point-of-view, third-person, and so forth, this novel shows the dark side of humanity, where there is power, corruption, greed, lust, betrayal, and so forth.  The main protagonist, Jack Mullen, is definitely an underdog in the story.  Everything is taken away from him.  Jack gets threatened, beaten, and warned to stop his investigation into what happened to Peter.  He gets knocked, but he still gets back up and fights for love, family, and justice.

There's mystery, drama, suspense, and unexpected romance at The Beach House.
