Record Breaking First Printing for Harry Potter

By Krista Belles

Scholastic, Inc. announced Wednesday that they will have a record breaking first printing of 12 million copies for the final Harry Potter book. Scholastic also announced a multimillion dollar marketing campaign in support of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" which is scheduled for a July 21 release.

"This is about so much more than the publication of a single book," Lisa Horton, President of Scholastic Trade and Book Fairs, stated Wednesday. "It`s a true celebration of the Harry Potter movement and the joy of reading."

The Scholastic campaign will be called, "There Will Soon Be 7" and will feature a Knight Bus National Tour that will visit 40 libraries in 10 major metropolitan areas. The campaign will also feature millions of Harry Potter bookmarks and tattoos.

J.K. Rowling`s series has sold more than 325 million copies worldwide.
