Judyth Piazza chats with Dr. Irwin Gootnick, Author of Self Help for Smarties

By Judyth Piazza CEO (Editor)

I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist in private practice for thirty six years, and treat couples for marital conflicts and difficulties with their children, and people who have problems with relationships, weight loss, success, career, money, or parenting.

I quickly help people to identify and understand the causes of their self-defeating patterns, and why these patterns continually repeat themselves in spite of one`s strongest desire to overcome them. As a result, my patients are able to use this powerfull self-knowledge to quickly solve their problems.

  • Couples conflicts and problems with their children.

  • Individual psychotherapy

  • Medication when indicated for anxiety, panic, and depression.

  • Supervision for mental health professionals.

  • Psychotherapy workshops.

  • Consultation and evaluation

What I do best:

  • Quickly identify your flawed parents and siblings.

  • Understand their negative effects on your life.

  • End your repeated self-defeating patterns.

  • Succeed with weight, career, love, and parenting.

In Spite of great determination to succeed in life, people fail to achieve their goals with weight, love, career and parenting, because of the way they have been affected by specific flaws of their parents and siblings.

Some of these major parent-sibling personality flaws include acting too authoritarian or weak or needy, overly possessive or rejecting, excessively competiive with you or living through your accomplishments and needing for you to be perfect. etc.

In response, when you overly placated them, or rebelled against them as a protest, or mimicked the very qualities that you hated, it led to problems with people, weight, career and money, love and parenting

These behaviors can`t he overcome by will power or New Year`s resolutions, and they resist the advice of "how to" books because most self-defeating motives remain hidden from our awareness.

In order to change, it is necessary to understand the origin of these motivations, why they remain hidden, how they affect your life, and how to apply this knowledge to your current situation so that you can make positive changes in your life.
This is what I do.

What I Love About What I Do

What is most rewarding for me is using my skill and 36 years of experience to help my patients overcome their repeated unahppiness in many areas of life by identifying the causes of their self-defeating patterns so that they can make positive changes in their lives.
