Stephen Harper `sucks` 51 times more than Paul Martin

By Bruce H.G. Calder (Editor)

You can often get a good idea of how people really feel about something by how much money they`re willing to pay for it. For example, if you want to see U2 in concert, expect to pay $200 to over $600 a ticket, while taking in REO Speedwagon would set you back under $100 for a good seat...and heck, you`d probably get to share a taxi with them after the show.

Canada is in the midst of an election campaign, and on January 23 we`ll find out if Liberal party leader Paul Martin will be re-elected as Prime Minister, or if Stephen Harper, Conservative Party chief will be able to pry power from the grips of seemingly invincible Liberals.

Both Martin and Harper stir up many emotions (usually bad,) but Stephen Harper seems to inspire more than his share of hatred in the hearts of many Canadians. The man who the overly paranoid think would "shut down every hospital," "sell us out to the United States," and "euthanize welfare mothers" all before his morning Special KKK is generally blamed for taking an election that should be a slam-dunk for the Conservatives and turning it into a contest that the "tired and corrupt" Liberals could still actually win in spite of themselves.

Immediately after the writ was dropped for the election one Ontario entrepreneur registered domain names for each of the major party leaders - plus "sucks" and put them up for auction on Ebay. Yesterday, the auctions ended and StephenHarperSucks.ca (item 5836124802) selling for $51 ($44 USD) was by far the "winner" over PaulMartinSucks.ca (item 5836125180) which managed to excite only 1 person to bid $0.99 ($0.86 USD.)

Also apparently sold for $0.99 were JackLaytonSucks.ca and GillesDuceppeSucks.ca.

Neither Liberal nor Conservative parties were able to provide comment on this extremely important piece of news by the time of posting.
