Judyth Piazza chats with Alice Bateman, Canadian Author and Songwriter
|
|
Canadian writer Alice C. Bateman was born and raised in the province of Ontario but has travelled extensively in Canada and settled in Calgary, Alberta, among the Rocky Mountains. If you think you recognize Alice`s face or name, you probably do, after a decade of public life as one of Toronto`s licensed craft vendors, with attendant TV and newspaper publicity. Toronto`s City TV may very well be still playing filler clips with Alice, `live from the corner of Yonge and Gould.` When the inspiration strikes, Alice still designs and hand makes fashion jewelry - but her first love, her passion, is writing.
And for those of you calculating how old this picture must be because you know Alice from way back when, Don Tietz, the subject of One American Dreamer took it the first day she met Don, on his brother Gene`s birthday on 04/04/04, April 4th 2004. After fifty or so hours on a Greyhound. There, Pam, the photo is updated.
Ask about her favorite job ever, and Alice would say it was when she worked with The Nylons, the highly successful Canadian A Capella group, in their management office and out accompanying the group to performances. A job that might not have left Alice enough time to get her first three books written and published, she loved her work and `the guys` so much. Maybe it`s a good thing life moved in another direction.
Know her name from answering your telephone? Alice worked with the national market research company, The Angus Reid Group for a few years, and placed thousands of telephone calls before becoming a Supervisor in the phone room.
All of these activities and more went into creating the well of content Alice draws from on a daily basis to create her stockpile of writings. From poetry and song lyrics to opinion columns, from short stories to novels, Alice C. Bateman is a prolific and accomplished writer who is already enjoyed around the globe through the magic of the Internet.
